Your first pages

RowSprout turns one template and a table of groups (rows) into one real WordPress page per row. This guide walks through a complete example: a plumbing company that wants a page for every town it works in, such as /plumber-amsterdam/ and /plumber-utrecht/.

You need WordPress 6.9 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. Build the page in whichever editor you already use: the block editor, Elementor or WPBakery Page Builder.

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New, search for RowSprout, then click Install and Activate.

  2. A new RowSprout menu appears, with Home, Templates, Pages and Settings.

  1. Create the template. Go to RowSprout → Templates → Add New. A template is the page you design once; every generated page is a copy of it with its own values filled in.

Below the editor you find the RowSprout template box with three tabs: General, Properties and Groups. In Elementor, the same tabs are in the RowSprout template tab of the editor.

  2. Add properties. On the Properties tab, add the parts that differ per page. For the plumber:

    Property Type
    Title Title
    URL URL / Slug
    Town Text field
    Introduction Textarea
    Contact email Email

Every template needs exactly one Title and one URL / Slug property. Each property gets a code, and the Properties tab shows its placeholder token, for example @code_town_123@ (123 is the template’s ID). Wherever that token appears, RowSprout puts in the row’s own value.

  3. Add your rows. On the Groups tab, click Add group once per page and fill in the values: Plumber in Amsterdam, amsterdam, Amsterdam, and so on. Every group becomes one page.

  4. Set the page title and address.

    • Use the Title property’s token as the template’s title, for example @code_title_123@. Each page gets the template title with the tokens filled in.
    • On the General tab, enter the Href: the address pattern of the pages, for example /plumber-@code_href_123@. With the URL value amsterdam, that page lives at /plumber-amsterdam/. RowSprout warns you when two rows would get the same address.
  5. Design the page. Build the layout as you would any page, and place the properties in it:

    • Placeholders anywhere: type a token in a text, or use the Insert RowSprout property button in the toolbar of text blocks (block editor), the Text Editor widget (Elementor) or WPBakery’s text editors.
    • Block editor: bind a Paragraph, Heading, List item, Button or Image block to a property under Attributes → RowSprout property.
    • Elementor: use the Heading, Textarea and Button widgets in the RowSprout group. Pick a Preview group in the page settings to see a row’s real values while you design.
  6. Save with “Create & update pages”. Choose the Save action Create & update pages and publish. RowSprout generates the pages in the background; they usually appear within a minute or two under RowSprout → Pages.

Every change goes through the template, so no page ever gets out of date:

  • Change the design or a row, then save with Create & update pages: every page of the template is regenerated. RowSprout Pro’s Smart Generate only regenerates the pages affected by what you changed.
  • Save template only stores your changes without touching the pages yet. They are marked as outdated until you generate them.
  • Remove a row and its page is removed. Trash the template and its pages go to the trash with it; restoring the template restores them.
  • The Status column on RowSprout → Templates shows how many pages of each template are up to date.

Generated pages are locked against editing by hand, so a later update never overwrites your work. If you do want to edit them directly, unlock them under RowSprout → Settings.

Under RowSprout → Settings → Page URL base you choose whether generated pages live directly at the site root (https://example.com/plumber-amsterdam/) or under a prefix of your own (https://example.com/locations/plumber-amsterdam/).

  • Show all pages of a template as a list or as cards with the Grid block, Elementor widget or WPBakery element, for example an overview of every town you serve.
  • Reuse rows in a second template with child templates: give a template a Parent, and it gets a page for every row of the parent (“Roof repair in Amsterdam” next to “Roofer in Amsterdam”) without typing the rows again.
  • Need more? RowSprout Pro adds Smart Generate, planning per row, WPML, more property types (Date, Select, Item list, Thumbnail, Rich text, …), extra Elementor widgets, throttling, and WP-CLI and MCP commands.
