System requirements

RowSprout runs on ordinary WordPress hosting. Check these points before you install it.

Requirement Minimum
WordPress 6.9 or later (tested up to 7.1)
PHP 7.4 or later
PHP extension mbstring
PHP extension (recommended) intl
Database MySQL or MariaDB with InnoDB, as WordPress itself needs
Background processing WP-Cron, or a real cron job on the server (see below)
  • Database: on activation, RowSprout adds one table, {prefix}rowsprout_page_groups (for example wp_rowsprout_page_groups), which tracks every row and its page. Everything else is stored in WordPress’s own tables.
  • mbstring: RowSprout uses it when you save a template’s properties. Most hosts enable it by default; if you’re unsure, check Tools → Site Health → Info → Server.
  • intl: used for international email domains and alphabetical sorting in the site language. Without it, every alphabet still works; an email address with an international domain is then refused, and sorting ignores accents and capitals instead.

RowSprout generates pages in the background, through a queue run by Action Scheduler (bundled with the plugin, nothing to install). Every minute, the queue picks up the next batch of rows and builds their pages.

That queue needs something to start it. Out of the box, this is WP-Cron, which only runs when someone visits the site. On a quiet site, or with WP-Cron switched off (DISABLE_WP_CRON), pages are generated late or not at all. Set up a cron job to make generation reliable.

RowSprout works with the editor you already use. None of them is required:

  • Block editor (built into WordPress)
  • Elementor
  • WPBakery Page Builder, including builds bundled with themes

RowSprout Pro is an add-on and has the same requirements, plus:

  • RowSprout installed and active: Pro extends the free plugin and does not run without it.
  • Outgoing HTTPS connections to license.rowsprout.com. Pro checks your licence there and gets its updates from it. A firewall that blocks outgoing requests from WordPress also blocks licence activation and updates.
  • WPML (optional), if you want to translate your generated pages.
  • WP-CLI (optional), for the wp rowsprout commands.
