Import, export and sync
RowSprout has three ways to move data in and out. They do different things, so pick the one that fits:
| You want to… | Use | What moves |
|---|---|---|
| Edit a template’s rows in Excel or Google Sheets, or fill a template from a file you already have | Import and export groups | The groups (rows) of one template, as CSV, Excel, a URL or a Google sheet |
| Keep a template’s rows up to date from a sheet, a file on the web or an API, without doing it by hand | Keep groups in sync (Pro) | The groups of one template, read again from a URL on a schedule |
| Move templates to another site, such as from staging to live, or start from example templates | Import and export templates | Whole templates: content, properties, groups and settings, as a RowSprout file |
None of them generates pages by itself, except a sync of a published template: an import saves the groups or templates, and you generate their pages with Create & update pages when you’re ready.
Import and export groupsDownload the rows, edit them in a spreadsheet, and import a CSV or Excel file, a URL or a Google sheet.
Keep groups in syncImport from a sheet, file or JSON feed every hour, day or week, with a log and email alerts (RowSprout Pro).
Import and export templatesMove templates to another site as a file, update them from staging (Pro), or start from sample data.
