Caching

RowSprout works with page caching plugins such as WP Rocket, and with server caches such as Varnish. Generated pages are normal WordPress pages, so they are cached like any other page.

RowSprout creates and updates generated pages the normal WordPress way. Caching plugins that clear a page’s cache when it is updated, such as WP Rocket, therefore clear a generated page when RowSprout regenerates it, also when that happens in the background.

A few changes affect pages other than the generated page itself. Clear those pages’ cache, or the whole cache, after:

  • New or removed pages in a Grid. A Grid on another page, such as a Locations overview, lists the template’s pages. When a new page is generated or one is removed, the cached overview still shows the old list until its cache is cleared.
  • Links between pages. Sibling Links and Page Link (Pro) on other pages show a link once the target page exists.
  • Translations. After translating a template with WPML, cached pages in the other languages can keep showing old hreflang links and language switcher entries.
  • A server cache in front of WordPress, such as Varnish or a CDN, that your caching plugin doesn’t clear.
  • WP Rocket’s Purge Cache action is hidden for templates: a template is never shown to visitors, so there is nothing to purge.
  • To clear one page, such as the overview with the Grid, open it and use the WP Rocket menu in the admin bar. To clear everything, use Clear cache in that menu.

RowSprout generates pages in the background, a batch every minute, so after a change to hundreds of pages they are regenerated over several minutes. Wait until the template’s Status column on RowSprout → Templates shows every page as up to date, then clear the overview pages and any server cache or CDN once.
